Live in Kansas? Have a Kansas Driver’s License?
If you do, lucky you! Because you can research Kansas State Historical Society’s digital newspaper collection on Newspapers.com for FREE!!!
In fact, even if you don’t have a Kansas Driver’s license, you can access the digitized Kansas newspapers that have been online for three years, and you don’t even have to log in.
For FREE!
For non-Kansas residents, go to the Kansas Historical Open Content newspaper collection.
This collection isn’t quite as extensive as the collection that requires a Kansas Driver’s license to log in, but with more than 4 million pages to view, it’s still an impressive collection.
And, for Kansas residents, grab your Kansas Driver’s license or state ID card and follow this link to Kansas digital partner websites, then scroll down the page till you see a box like the one below here that says:
“Verify Your Driver’s License.”
KSHS is not saving your log-in information, so you will need to register each time you want to access the site.
According to the KSHS website, the digitization of the pre-1923 Kansas newspapers is nearly done, with just a few titles remaining to be digitized, and about 12 million, yes, that is TWELVE MILLION newspaper pages that are now available for you to research!
Now, just how cool is that?!
Happy Hunting!
